What "reborn" actually means
"Reborn" describes a process, not a material. A reborn doll is a factory doll (usually vinyl) that's been hand-repainted, layered, and detailed by an artist to look more lifelike. Most reborn dolls have a vinyl head and limbs with a soft, weighted cloth body.
What makes full silicone babies so lifelike
Silicone refers to the material the doll's body is made from — medical-grade platinum silicone, from head to toe, rather than vinyl and cloth. It's widely considered one of the most realistic options available, and it's the only type of baby we adopt out at Little Mamas Nursery. Here's why we love it:
- ✓Incredibly true-to-life feel. Platinum silicone has a soft, smooth, skin-like texture and a weighted presence that feels remarkably close to holding a real infant.
- ✓Real pacifier and bottle play. Unlike many reborn dolls that require special magnetic accessories, our full silicone babies can take a real, standard pacifier and baby bottle — no special equipment needed.
- ✓Bath, pool, and everyday play ready. Full silicone is water-friendly, so your baby can join you at bath time, by the pool, or through everyday play without worry.
- ✓Hand-painted detail, artist by artist. Every silicone baby is individually hand-painted with fine detail — soft blush, delicate veining, and realistic nail and skin tones — by our team.
- ✓Customization options available. Want rooted hair instead of painted, a specific complexion, or another personal touch? We offer several customization options for an additional fee so your baby feels made just for you.
