Choosing Your First Silicone Baby: A Buyer's Guide

Adopting your first full silicone baby is exciting — and with a few things to think through, it's easy to find the one that's just right for you. Here's what to consider.

1. Choose your size

Every Little Mamas Nursery baby is full silicone, and each one comes in one of four sizes:

  • 12" Micro Preemie — our smallest and most delicate size, perfect for a petite display piece or a first silicone baby that's easy to hold and carry
  • 16" Preemie — a little more presence while still light and compact, a lovely in-between size for collectors and first-time adopters
  • 18" Newborn — our most true-to-life newborn size, closely mirroring the size and weight of a real infant
  • 20" Infant — our largest size, with the fullest, most substantial infant-like presence

Each product page lists the exact measurements, so you can compare sizes side by side before deciding.

2. Decide on hair

Every baby is available either with hand-rooted hair (in a range of colors) or with a beautifully hand-painted hairline and no rooted hair at all. Think about which look you love more, and how much ongoing hair care you'd like to do — painted hair needs no brushing, while rooted hair adds a soft, touchable detail.

3. Consider complexion and customization

Our babies come in a range of complexions, and several customization options are available for an additional fee if you'd like to make your baby even more your own.

4. Try before you decide

Photos only tell part of the story. We offer several ways to meet your baby before you commit:

  • In-Person Baby Doll Adoption Experience — visit our nursery in Livingston, Tennessee, and hold your baby before deciding
  • Private Birthday Adoption Experience — make the moment extra special with a celebration built around your adoption
  • Virtual Nursery Visit — meet and adopt a baby live over video if you can't visit in person
  • Shop online — browse our full Silicone Babies collection and adopt from anywhere, with adoption paperwork and a starter bundle included

5. Care and longevity

Ask about care requirements before you buy — proper cleaning, gentle handling, and storage will help your baby's lifelike finish and painted detail stay beautiful for years. See our full care guide.
